Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
You have to wonder sometimes how the painter got a person to hold such an unattractive pose and expression for long enough. If we accept the truism that painters always flattered their wealthy subjects in those portraitsâŚI shudder to think, really.
It might be Titian, it might be Giorgioni, itâs at the National Gallery in Washington, DC, and thatâs about all weâve got. To me, it looks about as much like a Titian as my left armâ which does have an oddly Renaissance quality about it, at least on Wednesdays.
(best viewed by Google Chrome which can automatically translate most pages as necessary) has info and links that point to info about this roughly jumbo envelope size painting by Giovanni Cariani (see References). The strip image comes from the second one under File history.
both have info about this artist, perhaps in addition to whatâs pointed to by the first URL. This is the first work by him used here.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by clicking the image in Mr. Melcherâs MASTERPIECE #2008 (July 31, 2018) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment.
