How is an insurance company suppose to make money if it pays its customers’ bills?

“Make us.”

Does this same Acme Health Insurance not cover the injuries Wile E. Coyote afflicts upon himself as he tries to nab the roadrunner?

“It came to our attention you were born with that appendix.”

“Pre-existing condition!”

They’re more interested in taking your money then paying it out when you need it.

Gee, I don’t remember my parents having to pay for my appendectomy when I was a kid. Also, I didn’t have to pay for my gall bladder removal 10 years ago, or my recent cataract surgery. Oh, right, I don’t live in the US.

Really. If you think banks are greedy and bad, they don’t hold a candle to insurance companies.

“Yes you can, but you MAY not!” – most annoying answer by school teachers to: “Can I go to the washroom?”. Less used by insurance companies.

Years ago I had great health insurance, but then Blue Cross Blue Shield took over “management” of my health insurance plan. From there on it was a struggle to get them to pay for anything. Glad I’m retired and on medicare….especially after having cancer last year.

I once knew this surgeon who was an avid reader. Problem was that the first time he got a new book, he would take out the appendix.

The good news is O-Bum-er care would cover that…….The bad news is (in Pa) those who pay their own insurance saw it go from $250/month to $565/month in 2 years. This was for an individual policy. Now all the big hospitals are building new units….follow the money……

For profit health insurance companies are the real death panels.

And to those companies who say they are looking for a ‘cure’ I say my rear end. Cure is a four-letter word to the pharmaceutical companies, they just want to treat symptoms…with something that will give you worse symptoms if it doesn’t kill you first!

Next thing you know, Pig has heart replacement surgery. He got Andrew Zimmern’s. As expected, Acme refused to cover it. They never had heart, let alone Andrew Zimmern’s. But they have a process to cover payment for surgery involving another organ. It is called “Delivery”.

As noted above, someone wanted Afflack to cover the surgery, but the company had to duck the issue. The guy performing it was a quack.

The root cause of all our health care problems in the U.S. is that we run it as a for-profit industry.

Joliet Jake has it right. The central purpose of any for-profit entity is to make a profit. While I concede that the Affordable Care Act was imperfect, what has this administration done to make health care any better? Answer; Nothing. Even the GOP Majority, who control the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court, can’t agree on what they want concerning health care. Of course, to the very rich, it really doesn’t matter. Walls and witch-hunts are much more important than genuine issues.

The real answer is “Because the medieval U.S. healthcare system didn’t make us.”

Wait! When did Pig have his emergency appendectomy? Were there any complications?

Will he now be sent to Debtor’s Prison?
