Who’d seriously dislike macaroni and cheese? One missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints saying so to his companion in the funnies section of Church youth magazine “The New Era” (don’t know which edition though).

I’ve never liked it. Won’t eat it, won’t make it.

Baked is all right but forget the ‘additives’ ! !! !

I have a nephew that would request my “oven macaroni and cheese” with real cheese when he visited. He said all his mom would make is the box stuff. This started when he was around 8 yrs old.

The cafe in my home town served Mac and cheese every Friday (it was pretty much a Catholic community) and all my friends would moan and groan about having to eat it or fish. However, we protestants thought it was great. When the religious rule was relaxed in the US in 1966 (National Council of Catholic Bishops), the cafe stopped serving it at all and the menu went back to roast beef, roast pork, and burgers—with broasted chicken on Sundays.

We had a potluck where I worked and I brought in a homemade macaroni and cheese casserole. One of they youngsters was so surprised — she didn’t know you could make macaroni and cheese — she thought it all came out of a box.

Most children love macaroni and cheese. The quality of the product, boxed or served at a restaurant however, is quite variable and even children have standards. I make another family favorite for the grandchildren using tomato soup and cooked macaroni. My grandson calls that Grandpa’s Mac and Cheese.

My grandfather loved Macaroni & Cheese, just not the kind out of a box.
