Odd name for a dog.

We humans rarely know what we are missing, as many of us keep our range of sensitivities on a very short leash

Good strip, great punchline. Ol’ Caulfield got a snicker out of me.

How beings perceive smells is largely based on what attracts us. Humans who are designed to primarily eat fruit find the smells associated with fruit to be the best smells; ie flowers and actual fruits. Dogs who are primarily meat eaters and scavengers are attracted to scents associated with meat, such as a rotting squirrel; and yes, that includes poop.

Expired? The squirrel has a best before date?

10,000 times better may be a low-ball estimate. I’ve read that dogs’ sense of smell is so good they can detect a spoonful of sugar dissolved in two Olympic pools’ worth of water.

I recall a short story by Spider Robinson in which one of the characters says he’s inflicted hyperosmia on everyone in the building and the protagonist promptly punches him for it.

Dogs eat raw food not cooked. It isn’t healthy for them. But since their feed me is always on 24/7 they will eat it anyway.

Crossin’ the highway late last night
