Grandpa is clever. No kid wants to turn into an old man.

The chair is not worth it, Nelson! Get out while you still can!

Well Nelson when the moustache grows you are in trouble :-o

He did say gradually. It’s like saying you will die after ten minutes… how long after we don’t know.

worse, there’s a growth of hair coming out of your nostrils and ears

Grandpa plays mean!

I prefer this approach than giving Nelson a whack on the side of his head.

Other little tidbits: “Your face might freeze like that”, “You’ll put your eye out with that thing”, “gotta wait an hour after eating to swim”.

Take heart, Nelson. While growing old is inevitable, “growing up” is optional. “I hope that it shall never be / Beneath my dignity to climb a tree” – Betty Comden and Adolph Green, Peter Pan (1954), based on J. M. Barrie’s novel .

Now, if Nelson had been told he was beginning to sprout a scruffy mustache, the boy would leap from the chair and race to a mirror.

Not to mention,the spreading of the back forty ;(

And hair growing out of your ears…

Ah, he’s also developing that “old man smell” kind of funk.

That is just harsh, Earl. Poor Nelson will be checking mirrors now for a week.

I’m going to have to remember this one to use on my grandchildren, might not have the same impact since they are all girls so far.
