Calvin, the Ugly Earthling.

I wonder if invading aliens would say something similar if we showed fear of them.

Either They are from New York or they landed there, by the sound of things!!

I’ll bet the martian is thinking the same thing, Calvin.

Reminds me of my jaunt over to Jersey. I’m driving through Philipsburg thinking to myself that there are an awful lot of ‘foreign’ license plates on the cars. Then it hit me, I was the ‘foreigner’ there.

What a great line at the end, there! Watterson should’ve entitled one of the collections with it!

What?

Wouldn’t it be great if we learned or matured our way out of Calvin’s line of reasoning?

It’s more afraid of you than…oh never mind!

I don’t think very many Earthlings call you ordinary, Calvin!

Calvin, you are the weirdo from another planet. The Martian is at home.

One of Watterson’s great lines. No wonder he named one of the collections “Weirdos From Another Planet” :).

I wonder if he came up with the line, knowing it’d make a great title, or if it just came to him.

I’ve been the weirdo from another planet. I’ve been off the beaten path in a number of foreign countries. Life is a bit different when you’re the foreigner.

Calvin could really use the help of a rover right about now.

Typical American thinking, I am in a different country and they should all change to accommodate ME!!

Oh, to have the depth of immersive imagination of Calvin!

This reminds me of something I saw in Mad Magazine once. It was in The Lighter Side of Tourism. A guy complained about all the foreigners, and his wife answered “you’re the foreigner here”. It’s Calvin and Hobbes that are the weird creatures from another planet.

And thus the name of another Calvin and Hobbes collection is born.

Weirdos need love, too.

And my, your, their country is full of aliens.

YOU’RE the alien on this planet, kiddo.

And so it begins. The fear that’s caused by difference. Will it evolve into understanding or degrade into hate?

There ain’t no weirdos weirder than the ones that come from Planet Earth!
