The one about the Maple Leafs is in a different category from the others, since (as autocorrect agrees) the plural of leaf is leaves, and has been for centuries as far as I can tell. Maybe the Leafs spelled it uniquely to help secure trademark rights?

The team is named to honor the Canadian Maple Leaf Regiment from World War I . So Leafs would be correct. But hey it’s still a funny comic.

The last one is the result of a French to Dutch translation. They were called “Schtroumpfs” in Peyo’s original version.
