Reminds me of Norwegian radio sportscaster Bjørge Lillelien who got so famous for his creative rants that when a game was on both radio and TV, viewers usually turned down the sound on the TV and let Bjørge provide the commentary instead.
When Howard Costello was announcing a game on TV a lot of people would turn down the TV and listen to whoever was on the radio.
