In retrospect, I can’t help but flash back on the old Suicide Foods blog, where more often than not we were treated to images of happy farm animals inviting us to eat them.
I had a gut feeling that the “Pig Slaughter” wasn’t over yet. If you know terrorists you know they often organize into loosely connected cells. If one cell is compromised then the rest of the cells can go about carrying out the mission at hand.
I had predicted that, with the death of Walt, that we would move on to a new arc.
Of course, the big fly in many people’s arguments last week was, with Denise dead, that would be the end of the pig conspiracy.
Apparently not.
I speculated that, with her blade that suddenly grew in Walt ‘s last moments in the flames, that perhaps Denisedid get away. But, even if she did, I hardly think she would be ready for her next job.
So now, very late on Monday, Walt and others dead, we realize just how little we still know about what’s going on around here.
I copied today’s cartoon, sent it to Preview on my Mac, flipped the image to see the photo more closely. It looks like Portia and her brother. This is confirmed by the comic on June 27.

The phone is ringing in Walt’s place. as you can see by comparing the 2nd panel today with the 4th panel June 27.
The caller could be Jacob & the rats, who may not yet be informed of events. Although with their cameras, they should be.
https://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2018/07/16
Or it could be a member of the cannibals R us group wanting to ask Portia why she’s late…
The phone is ringing and no one is home. The Endtown Housing Authority needs to update its records and mark that apartment as vacant. A bit sad that Portia and her brother are now both dead, and that dratted phone keeps ringing. This story arc isn’t yet finished.
Ask not for whom the bell rings……..it rings for you.
“Okay so no one’s answeringWell can’t you let it ring a little longer, longer, longerI’ll just sit tight Through shadows of the night…..Let it ring forever more.”
Caller: “C’mon, c’mon, pick up. Oh great, it went to answering machine. Sigh. Ok, here goes anyway. Good evening, sir and or ma’am. I represent Prudential, and I was wondering if I could interest you in a term life insurance package.”
In Panel one; either part of the bridge collapsed or, someone in flames just dove into the canal. Denise may have survived her immolation but in what kind of condition? Will she escape and be taken into hiding while healing from her burns? The fat lady “pig” may not have sung yet. And… you know it ain’t over until the fat lady sings.
Hmmm. I interpreted it as being Denise’s home, with the picture of who she was to take out. The ringing phone is her associates, who do not yet know she is dead.
An old picture of Porcia and her late brother. One last look before she went out. The phone ringing could be the figurehead bunny mayor finally getting the right address.
I mentioned some time ago that there was a pig amongst those of Jacob’s inner circle celebrating his victory (in the same strip that showed Mavis) That strip is here: https://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2013/07/16 . When I mentioned it then, I’d dismissed the possibility that that pig (Portia’s brother?)had been involved in the butcher cabal, and might have been killed. But having Denise revealed as part of it…well, no pig is presumed innocent. I can’t wait to see what else turns up.
When I first saw Jacob’s vision of the black weeds ( https://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2017/10/30 ) , I thought it hinted that Jacob would have to find and uproot evil that was growing in Endtown…and that it was going to be painful. But now I’m wondering why there were two weeds.
Walt has gone fishing, and Portia has most likely gone to be with her brother. Denise and her wolf partner are probably banished to the Eternal Barbeque. Yet the phone still rings…
Maybe this is the end of humanity, think about it. Every “human” character people can relate to has been cast off in some way, be it death, convoluted backstory out of nowhere or loss of focus every actual main character is gone and we are only left with well….animals….
Maybe endtown is more than just a location name, it’s a metaphor for what we are heading to.
A true film noir ending. A phone ringing to an empty room with a picture on the table of Portia and the brother she adored -both lives tragically ended. [fade to black]

i’m sorry, the party to which you are calling is no longer in service.

And once again I’s as lost as an Easter egg. Seems to be my default status anymore where Endtown is concerned. :-/

Pretty sure the story arc is over. Feel this is just a classy way to end the arc, right up there with Hitchcock movies.

Just because someone is missing we assume they are dead there are many different scenarios that could have happened.

Reprises a view of that same room and angle, photo on the table, but without Portia in the chair this time. And the phone rings…

That’s Walt’s home and the photo that Portia awoke to.
I’m still really suspicious about Walt.
