Just because you have a beard does not mean you look scruffy. My son has a beard and always keeps it well trimmed. When he was younger, he shaved but he always had a problem with ingrown hairs. He tried Electrolysis, but all the hair grew back, so growing the beard was the only other solution.
I actually care VERY little about “fashion trends”. I wear what I think looks nice on me. I have worn a full beard and mustache for several decades now (since I was 19), never having shaved it off once. Now, at my age, most folks (other than my siblings) have never seen me in the “de-furred” state. My wife and my kids have never seen me any other way besides furry-faced.
Facial fur is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It protects from sunburn. It is very nice that it is popular now (I get many complements from students and other folks), but popular or not, I do not plan to change my look.

Pluggers can do what they darned well please and get away with it. They can blame it on senescence.

Shave almost every day…beard starts to itch about day 4 or 5 when not shaved off.

Lucky for me, I have a weakness for me with fuzzy faces. (Lucky for hubby, too, I suppose.)

I’ve a beard also, sometimes say ‘I took the road less traveled by’ don’t always do what ‘everybody does’

One of the nice things about getting old is that you are allowed to be eccentric. Which sounds so much nicer than crazy old coot.

After a while you lose count of how many people, young and old alike, come up and tell you that you look like Santa Clause.

We have a dear old grandpa, for whom we nightly pray. He has a set of whiskers that are always in the way.
