I’m surprised Calvin knows the words “work ethic.”

I imagined Calvin holding up a huge magnifying glass to the sun.

Antsy much, Calvin?

Once I had to work with a guy who would disappear whenever any real work had to be done. Turns out he had gotten his degree in philosophy. I was a bit torqued at him disappearing like that, so one time I asked him about his degree. Here’s the conversation.

californiamonty: So, you got your degree in philosophy, right?escape artist: Yes, that’s correct.californiamonty: That means you had to study different systems of ethics, isn’t that true?escape artist: Why, yes.californiamonty: Was work one of them?

He laughed, but he did take the point and was okay for the short time afterwards left working at the place.

In elementary school, there was this boy who was as dumb as rock. My friends and I looked out for him. However, this kid had a work ethic and a drive I rarely see from anyone. I remember telling my friends that he was going to end up doing better than all of us! I was right too.

Don’t think of the ant as having a work ethic. Think of him as a superhero.

Clearly dad’s going to have to help Calvin build more character. Time to queue up another camping trip!

People tend to forget that examing and thinking about things is a lot of work too. Proof of this concept is how much politicians avoid doing it.

She’s carrying a crumb bigger than she and she’s running.

Calvin’s speaks true today on avoiding hard work. I have a son works at a local grocery store, management hired 6 workers, all quit within 2 weeks. Son has 3 years. Works hard.

Calvin’s description of an ant reminds me of trying to be a Dad for my three very active boys.

Some people are like that…
