When I dated my wife soda pop wasn’t allowed in the theater, popcorn was a dime, butter corn was a quarter. Candy was $0.10. Admission was $0.60 before 6 p.m. and $0.90 after 6 p.m.
Many many years ago when Total Recall came out as a first run I went to see that movie for $2 at the theater while friends of mine snuck in beer and the empties rolled down along the theater floor. Now times have changed.
It has gotten too pricey for this Plugger. I usually either go without now… or I sneak in something but then feel damn guilty about it. The tickets alone, are often too pricey for the limited story telling in a big percentage of the movies the last 3-4 years as well.
Concessions are how the theater makes money. They don’t see a dime from the actual movie unless it runs for several weeks. I use to buy an item that cost $3.75 until while at a Walgreens the same item was .75 cents. Now it’s popcorn and a soda however, now that rare.

if there’s a gum ball dispenser, he’d use that quarter thereon

I’ve heard that the snack bar is the REAL profit center of a typical megaplex.;D

But you have to love the refillable popcorn & drinks that some theaters offer.

No more concession stand fare for this guy. I still have a mortgage.

You have to take out a mortgage to go to the movies or sporting event.

I just ask for a cup of ice and that will generally last for the movie then get something to eat later

This old Plugger doesn’t get concession food or drink. I don’t want to need to get up and go during the movie!
