A fat person might knock the bears off the cliff. The bears might be better off setting up a safety harness so people don’t fall off the cliff. A person would voluntarily put the harness/rope on and then the bears would real him in.
I know it’s not intentional, but this strip is bad timing. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/yosemite-national-park-deaths-couple-taking-selfie-brother-says-2018-10-31/
How many people have fallen off cliffs in the national parks just this year while taking a selfie? Two in October, two in September, Grand Canyon in the summer some time … Not counting the climbers on El Capitan; they were experienced climbers trying a speed mark.
It is amazing; how fast you can get dis-oriented when you step off the trail in a wilderness area. Large landmarks that you are sure that you will recognize to find your way back to the trail can suddenly be un-recognizable.
Worked in Yellowstone (cook), and later Yosemite(ranger), and our National Parks have long been key areas for Darwin Awards, mainly because when going on vacation, the first thing most people leave behind, is their brain. The cell phone and “selfies” have greatly increased the number of injuries and fatalities over when folks had a spouse or fellow visitor take the pictures for them, and USUALLY, warn them before the went over the cliff, but not always, even then. The bears don’t need the rope, just wait at the bottom of the cliff to pick up the tenderized, or “pulled pork” game.

People don’t actually need Wiley bears to die while taking selfies. It happens anyway and at an alarming rate.

Selfies help cull the herd, as well as fill the pages in The Darwin Awards book.
