I remember the “clank” of those steel horseshoes well, as in the early fifties on Sunday mornings men would be tossing them, over goodly distances it seemed to me, playing this game on the field in my neighborhood park.
As for that nickel, just give it to Rerun—he’ll find something to do with it!
