Some older neighbor boys got ten speed bikes the first year they were available. The after school races were changed forever with the “Lucy” tech only ever winning by accident.

“Great Scott!” He should have kept his goggles on.

A friend and I rode our bikes up over a couple of the dams at Horsetooth Reservoir one fine day and came down a side road, picking up speed as we barreled down the foothill. Then we remembered the cattle guard.

Scott tried to stop and wiped out, so I stood up with my knees bent and made it across. Very glad those aren’t at the same angle as the sewer grate.

Ow. I put a wheel in a sewer grate once.
