I’ve always wondered: why is cough medicine stereotypically mostly cherry? Why not orange or lemon or something else with vitamin C?

He’s not the only one. Blech!

The dislike for anything with coconut became a recurring theme in the strips.

Later, Charlie Brown kicked the radio when he heard Nilsson singing, “Put the lime in the coconut.”

I only like coconut on Almond Joy candy bars!

LOL! My aunt wouldn’t like it either. And much as I love coconut, the cough syrup might still taste kind of mediciney so I might not like that.

Neither can I.

CB has yet to learn about not shooting the messenger.

“Peanuts” is still the only place I’ve ever heard of a person disliking coconut, and I remember when this strip first ran. I’ve certainly never met a person in real life who didn’t enjoy coconut. I’ve always assumed the idea of people disliking coconut is something Schulz just made up.

I’m with you Chuck but I don’t think I’d boot the radio. I’m 99% sure Charles Schulz hated coconut too. This isn’t the last time the hatred of coconut was mentioned.

I like coconut.

Fortunately, I love coconut.

Say, brainless, don’t you know where coconuts come from?

I’m with Charlie Brown on this one—I don’t like coconut either.

I’m with CB. Eww.

I’ll take a good glass of coconut water or an Almond Joy or a slice of Coconut cream pie – ANY DAY.

It’s funny, I do NOT like coconut, nor do I like pineapple, but Piña Coladas? YUM YUM!!!!

I like coconut, but coconut flavor cough syrup? YUCK! Be like that blasted mixed berry flavor. Orange is only marginally tolerable. Cherry’s the only flavor that is half decent, and even that depends on the brand.

And don’t make chocolate flavored cough syrup. That would just be so terribly nasty..

I learned that Walgreens pharmacy has a flavor menu so that kids can take their medicine.

We had to get some compounded medicine for a kitten we rescued. We got the salmon flavor for her and she LOVED it! She’d come running up to us when we got her medicine bottle out.
