I still think she’s hard of hearing. Her parents need to get her checked out. How come I don’t remember this character from back in the early days? I (thought) I had all the Peanuts books. Read them religiously over and over again back in the 60s and maybe even early 70s. No recollection of this character.
I think Charlotte Braun was the cause of several inventions back then – Duct tape, foam ear plugs, sound-proof fiber board, sound-proof windows, acoustic foam, white noise generators, . . . .
I have just about all of the Fawcett paperback reprints of Peanuts strips, and the Charlotte Braun strips are absent. I’m guessing this was Sparky’s wish, and the fact that they’re appearing here probably wouldn’t sit well with him.

The first Peanuts character to enter Peanuts “Limbo”. Shermy, Violet, “Original” Patty, Freida, “5” would follow but not for a long time.

Perhaps her parents have hearing problems and she has to talk loud at home to be heard. Just a thought.
