Here’s hoping Elvis is a very deep sleeper or Puck could be looking at the other end of that pointer. Oh my! If there’s a pointer, does that mean there’s a chart in the near future?

MOL! I’ve seen this before, yet it still caught me by surprise and I literally laughed out loud.

I have never seen my cats do this. Fully asleep they usually are in paw over eyes mode or face plant plus loaf position mode. Lightly asleep with alert functioning is usually relaxed but slit eyed.

Has been way up in my ‘favorite BCN moments’ list since I first saw it. It’s perfect.

i just love the nonchalant way our usually sensitive Puck pokes Elvis in the last panel! Poor Elvis, his dignity is in jeopardy, in fact it may be doomed!

Ferrets have a state called “not dead, just sleeping.” Every new ferret owner gets a scare from this.

Or he just used up a life.

Oh my cat, this strip is hilarious. Elvis cockeyed in the second panel and his tongue hanging out in the last panel was just too much. Yum Yum is currently guarding Paul who is sleeping off his cold, while I am awake and suffering with mine – although suffering may ease shortly, I found my cold meds.

Brein 43, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you today. Please let us know how everything turns out.

The Miffed Maine Coon does this. Usually while napping in a pile of fabric. It freaks me out ever time I see it.

But what’s really creepy is when they do it and let that nictitating membrane half-close on them.

I understand Puck’s discomfort…When Charlie Brown sleeps between us at night (like the toddler he’s sure he is), he is almost always “eyes not quite shut”…which I, who usually come out of my deep sleeps suddenly, am constantly startled by when I open my eyes. I have also noticed that all of my cats have very loud stares.

I made a copy of this when I first learned about the original BCN. It’s been on my fridge a LOOOONG time! Why? Because Hubby sleeps open eyed some times. Thought I was joking until his former roommate corroborated. HAH! Told ya! ;-)(-;

Another use for the pointer.

I worked at a country fair with a nine-year-old girl, who would run around until exhausted, then fall asleep with her eyes open. It is disconcerting.

Well Puck Elvis is either asleep or dead. Better check for a pulse now.

No wonder Elvis is so grumpy when he’s awake. Puck pokes him with a pointer when he’s asleep. So he wakes up with all these aches and pains that he doesn’t understand why their there.

Prayers and best wishes to brein today. I know needles are a special worry—I keep thinking of the interminable IVs. I’ve had abdominal surgery and the recovery is not pleasant. I hope the doctors find and fix the problem. Brein, the Orb is enfolding you!

It is just as well that Puck is the best climber. His skill will be essential if Elvis ever finds out what he has been up to with Mr. E. Dignified whilst he has been asleep.

Just heard from Brein43’s husband – long surgery but she came through it well and the news is pretty good considering. More follow-up once more is known. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and hugs!PS – pictures of the knitted cats are on the fan art page of the original BCN website.
