Those don’t look like ear worms.

Somebody started singing it, not knowing what it was,

And they’ll continue singing it forever just because . . .

Would that it were so easy. I have found, however, that progressing through a series of ear worm songs (just a line or so) helps to purge the one that was bothering me.

Sing it out loud and infect all your family or co-workers. You’re welcome.

Sad thing is you have to get out of the surgery without listening to the piped-in music to avoid a new infection.

I actually have my own method for evicting earworms. I start playing Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five” in my head. It replaces the stuck tune without getting stuck itself. I think it’s because it has an unusual beat.

As the doctor leaves, “It’s a Small World, After All. Now, I have to go see Brandy, she’s a fine girl. I think we’re going to have Tutti Fruiti while watching a Gilligan’s Island marathon.”

I’m glad it worked for him. I played Angry Birds for a few hours on Friday and I can’t get it out of my head.
