Living in Florida (retired), I must confess to a few feelings of schadenfreude when I see blizzards back home in the Northeast and knowing my friends have to get to work in that mess. But only because they chide me for moving to Florida and say things like, “I could never live in Florida! I love the four seasons!” Oh yeah? Well, enjoy.
The nicest thing about being retired is that it can snow all it wants and it doesn’t bother us. We cook with gas, so don’t particularly worry about power outages, and beyond clearing a path to the birdfeeders and making a “pooping place” for the dog, we can just sit tight and wait for it to thaw.
I am with you, Ben! I also laugh at the traffic when there is snow. I went from the Northeast to Florida Panhandle to Smoky Mountain region in Tennessee. Florida sucks for me – too hot and humid all the time. They have two seasons; 2 weeks of Almost-Summer and 11-1/2 months of Gosh-Awful Summer! Here I have 4 seasons, each one approximately 3 months long, hardly any snow, just enough to keep me from missing it too much and bad traffic for me is when the cows don’t want to go home and I have to wait for them to leave the road (except for the time it was the jackasses that got out – they are more stubborn).

Do reports of fatal multi-vehicle pile-ups make him ecstatic?
