If the teacher rewards bad behavior, or simply pretends it didn’t happen, Nancy will try this sort of blackmail again. Why does this little parable seem so resonant this week?
I remember reading a coaching manual published in the 1940s, which discussed the need to drop players for disciplinary reasons, and in particular the situation of needing to drop a star player.
In essence, the advice offered was “well, sucks to be you.”
Nancy, Nancy, Nancy. That is such a sad, self-serving attitude.
Now, I am hoping we get to see more greatness as usual from the teacher! She knows how to handle our ’lil Nancy. I almost wish Olivia would have added a fifth panel today…. one with the teacher showing the same sort of squited eye grumpy look like is so perfect on Aunt Fritzi when she is frustrated at Nancy. I guess I will just imagine it as occurring “off camera”.

Nancy used to be a good kid. I’m not liking this bratty version.

Wait a minute. I was under the impression Nancy didn’t want to be a part of this Robotics club anymore?

Nancy, if you’re our best player, we should forfeit the game.

There’s a shrink she could see who’s six blocks away and only charges a nickel.

Nancy needs to do many hours of community service in a poor neighborhood. It might improve her attitude.
