Modern version of ancient song. One kid complained of having to use ‘ancient’ phone that didn’t even have a screen. Kept punching buttons until he realized it was a spin dial.
I was driven to elementary school (up to 4th grade) because my mom was a teacher at the same school. Once we moved, I walked to elementary and high school. Took bus or bike to junior high (7 & 8 grade) because it was more than a mile from home, but could walk if I wanted to (and on nice days, I wanted to).
I grew up in Arizona. Had to walk 1/2 mile to school every day for 8 years. Next to a busy road without any sidewalks in the scorching heat and what I considered bitter cold way back when. Good memories.
