Too true. Did a survey yesterday which demanded I chose between two repellent ads and then two more and then two more… For a product I would never buy under any circumstances.
bought a new car, manufacturer sent a survey on how I liked it, how did it handle, run, etc. I had less than 100 miles on it. some of the questions are more pertinent now that I’ve driven it 4 months, I like the car but wish they’d waited on their survey.
Usually they don’t have a place to write your opinions – just 1-10. One time they did give me a place to write something, the survey was terminated before I finished. Others I have had terminated if I didn’t give a 10 to every question. Now I ignore all surveys.
I bought some ink cartridges for my inkjet printer, and the store wanted me to answer a survey about them the next day… How well do you like this product? etc.
When I worked at Border’s I found out how those surveys really work, for everyone who took the survey we got a score from 0 to 5, the survey had 5 questions scored 1 – 5, supposidly 1 was the worst and 5 was the best, but in reality the survey only counted the 5’s, any other score counted as a 0, if the customers gave us 5 5’s in the survey we got 5 point, if they gave us 5 4’s we got 0 points, and when you give someone a 1 – 5 option, how many of them will give you a 5, that’s why I never paid any attention to the survey results the whole time I worked at the store.

I get those online surveys from my dentist. Like I’m going to give him a bad rating. Not a good idea.
