I always preferred the Limeliters, myself. I enjoyed the tremolo of Glenn Yarbrough to ANY group that would be “forward” enough to include “Sugar Pie Honey Bunch” in their song lyrics – I’ve never been a fan of overly sweet songs, preferring “folk music” as a genre over “Motown” (though I will admit to having a ‘crush’ on Diana Ross – though, to this day, I’ve not a clue as to what her songs were about – THAT wasn’t where my concentration was)
I used to enjoy the Four Seasons until one of my cousins informed me that there were really “5” of them – the fifth you couldn’t see because HIS job was to keep his hand in Frankie Valli’s pants and squeeze Frankie’s “tender spot” so Frankie could hit the high notes – ridiculous, I know, but I was never able to shake that picture any time I heard them sing.
