My cat, Miles, loves to have his tummy scratch. Every time I walk by him, he rolls over onto his back. Of course, since he was raised with dogs, he thinks he’s a dog. You should hear him try to bark.
Frito cat loves belly rubs. Others not so much. But I do have a very elderly cat whom every so often sleeps like that, so I check to make sure he is still breathing.
Nekku would rub her head against my thigh, purr, look directly to my eyes, stretches her fore paws without claws etc. Then I’ll look at her and before I even move my hand, she transforms to shrub cutter or something like.

If I did that to Spencer, I’d be pulling back a stub!

You don’t do that to a cat who trusts you. You’ll get a bite and the claws and deserve it.

Checking to see if your cat is dead or alive?

I think he means the cat wanted a belly rub.

We have two gray cats that do that all he time, and they both want belly rubs when they do it
The long haired one will just lay back and enjoy it
Same with the short haired one, until she springs like a bear trap

Ha! Cats, what can you do, right?

OK, not dead.

Cats lying like that are expressing their trust in you. Giving them a belly rub violates that trust, hence the claws and biting.
Unless your particular cat likes belly rubs, of course….

Poor Ludwig isn’t getting any younger. Was Arlo checking for a heartbeat?

My Bullet likes to be scratched on the belly. He flips over just so you can scratch him. He is my only cat that has ever done this.

Actually, you can see Ludwig breathe between the first and second panel. In the second one, his belly is fluffier.

Looks like Arlo wants his hand shredded.

That’s where the phrase “flower of claws” came from.
