The colorist pays attention, but the dots are ugly.

I love the dots, they give the comic such an old school classic style, and it really works with this scene.

Interesting dynamic here for Phoebe. Everybody is talking. But nobody is saying anything. Makes her wonder why she wanted to join the ‘popular’ table.

Sorry, I don’t speak “popular”.

This is going better than I expected, though, so there’s that.

Notice that Phoebe is the only one that has a brown bagged lunch.

This was my kid impression of a grownup party. All they want to do is stand around and talk. Why don’t they want to eat ice cream and play?

Phoebe and Dakota’s use of the word “weird” for something they aren’t used to reminds me of a quote from Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Purloined Letter” – “The police commissioner called anything he didn’t understand ‘odd’ so was surrounded by a great legion of oddities.”

I’m just wondering how Phoebe managed to get that apple all the way to school without Marigold munching it.

Well, Marigold took some getting used to too, Pheebs.

I love that she’s the only one with a brown bag. Astutely observed!

Weird is a relative term. All my relatives are weird.

why did mom (or dad?) write "Phoebe"* on her lunchbag? Does she make a lunch for mG, as well???
