Well,you can’t say Varvel doesn’t fill his off-time studying Limbaugh and Alex Jones.

I like the topicality: It takes real talent to turn an exciting actual “man in whale’s mouth” news bit into blind right-wing drivel.

I do kind of think that “Democratic Socialism” is a drawback to Sanders et al though: We need a new name for the idea that government should facilitate what people actually want, need and use.

Mr. Varvel: Venezuela (a favored Republican country used as a warning about “socialism”) is not a socialist country. It is a communist country that has evolved into a kleptocratic dictatorship. In kleptocratic dictatorships, one person or family has power over everything and all possible profits are gathered to that person or family (Maduro in this case), which then distributes some of that money to their supporters who help them stay in power. The general population is forced into submission and poverty by a purchased military. Except for rhetoric about how much the dictator cares about the common man, he does not give a rat’s patootie about them. They only exist to provide monies and production that the dictator can garner and store offshore. This is exactly what your exalted leader Trump is doing to the United States. Wake up and stop supporting him and his cronies before it is too late.

Gary – The looks like a baleen whale and thus no danger to the snorkeler. You should have drawn a toothed whale such as an Orca.

Gary, you really like to harp on the socialism thing, don’t you? So what do you think about Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid? Guess you must be against them, since they are examples of socialism. So draw something about that next time.

What is sad is the continued lying by the right. What is sadder is the number of those on the right who believe the lies.

Gary – if this cartoon is supposed to discredit the DNC you might have missed one very essential fact in this story. The whale spit the diver out as it didn’t suit its (feeding) needs – thus if the whale represent Socialism, Socialism declared that the DNC is not something it wants to be associated with…..

What’s the matter Gary? Afraid we will become a happy, affluent society like the democratic socialist countries of Scandinavia? Heaven forbid!!

In America, socialism is alive and well for the rich. Their disguised as subsidies. Any time the American tax payers money is used to help the poor survive, that is socialism for the corporations who underpay the workers. Subsidies for big oil, billions for farmers hurt by Trump policies, large corporations making billions in profit and paying little to no taxes. All socialism for the rich. The right only detest socialism if it helps the least among us. Poor dumb brainwashed America.
