Geez, Mum let the “didn’t like dinner” line slide. I know a few Mums who would’ve launched into a “When I was a kid, I was lucky to have a boiled rock for dinner” or “Consider those starving in ________” guilt trip!

Just go outside and play with Hobbes. You can play Calvinball, throw water balloons at Susie, start your G.R.O.S.S club. There are many things to do..

Those were the days when families had just ONE TV.

When you have everything taken away from you, you come to realize that all we have is ourselves and each other. It’s the only thing that truly matters.

Maybe they should consider not replacing the TV if it means he’ll actually finish his dinner and do his homework every night.

What did we do before TV?

This is still the 80s. Calvin may watch a lot of TV, but he’s not always staring at a smart phone or tablet, he actually reads the occasional book (or comic book), and he can put himself in a fantasy world with whatever props he has on hand. He should be able to handle this better than many kids today.
