Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Geez, Mum let the “didn’t like dinner” line slide. I know a few Mums who would’ve launched into a “When I was a kid, I was lucky to have a boiled rock for dinner” or “Consider those starving in ________” guilt trip!
When you have everything taken away from you, you come to realize that all we have is ourselves and each other. It’s the only thing that truly matters.
This is still the 80s. Calvin may watch a lot of TV, but he’s not always staring at a smart phone or tablet, he actually reads the occasional book (or comic book), and he can put himself in a fantasy world with whatever props he has on hand. He should be able to handle this better than many kids today.
Love that “poof!” above Calvin’s head in the third panel! I picture this sound effect accompanying it… https://soundeffects.fandom.com/wiki/DISNEY_POOF_SOUND

Just go outside and play with Hobbes. You can play Calvinball, throw water balloons at Susie, start your G.R.O.S.S club. There are many things to do..

How could someone be so cruel as to steal a television set?
ericbutts74 almost 6 years ago
You “didn’t like it very much”? Calvin needs to learn about gratitude.

I suppose you might as well do what you should do, when you can’t do what you want to. Phooey!

Now Calvin goes for the honesty and rationality maneuver…

Maybe they should consider not replacing the TV if it means he’ll actually finish his dinner and do his homework every night.

What did we do before TV?

Don’t worry, Calvin. You’ll get a new TV soon.
(We just won’t ever see you get it in the strip…)

Standard one percent deductible…. no money for both the TV AND tiger chow.

It bears repeating for the umpteenth time: Watterson is a GREAT artist! Love Calvin’s expressions in Panels 3 and 4.

What’s wrong with asparagus? I love it but then I am grown. (Allegedly)

You could use this as an opportunity to unplug. I threw out my TV over a decade ago and haven’t looked back.

Panel 3 … One of the most classic “reaction” captures ever (disappointment, shock, sadness, etc. etc. etc. all at once).

This really dates the strip; who only has one TV anymore?

That’s want is expected by a parent from the child. Stolen TV seems a boon to the parents.

He handles adversity by doing what he should do, and you’re complaining?
