I’m just a pawn in the game of life, margueritem. I found out about Fosdick from byzcath in yesterday’s DT.

Just undo the *&$@>£!% chains and get it over with (whatever it is).

Ah-hah! The romance has moved into roleplaying! The game is “Doctor.” Think will invite his beloved to recline on a couch and talk about his early childhood … his dreams … his heart’s desire … and all the while Thick will move closer to the improvised couch. Then he will offer to show Mordred some inkblots. “What does panel #1 remind you of?” he’ll ask.

“A granary!” Morbid will sob. “Lately all the panels remind me of a granary! Why is that? It’s horrible! Can you help?”

“You, perhaps,” Thick will murmur in his ear, “But Locher? He’s beyond help!”

Soon the guys from “Ripley”s’ Believe it or Not”’ will be knocking on a door in Napervile to interview the American artist who was first to achieve it.

The trick was to sustain dialogue for near 3 months without any significant story FORWARD movement occuring in the strip.It’s a lot harder than you would think.

Word on the street is that Locher’s set a ‘new record’ and that the powers are also likey to pick him for the Reuben Award, which he hasn’t won yet. A sort of gesture for long service.. Since Lee Falk of Phantom fame passed on Dick at - 81 is the oldest man doing comics.

Look out for one more ‘appearance’ of Junior Tracy the ‘look alike’ character of Dicky Locher’s late son John.

Whatever is going to happen next, please don’t tell me. I want to maintain the delusion that Locher has given Thick at least a minimal sense of survival. I want to think that he’s conning Mordred in an effort to get some useful information out of him. Not “Why did you do it, peckerwood,” but “Did you kill anyone else?” and “Where did you hide their bodies, so we can let their next of kin know about them?”

Otherwise, maybe Mordred isn’t going anywhere, but neither is Thick. At least not until Mordred throws his cold, lifeless body into the flood waters.

And I defy anyone to hold their hand the way Thick does in panel #2. Geeze Louise, how hard is it for Locher and Brozman to find a credible example of a human hand? They should have at least four of them in easy reach.

why would Spacy care about such a thing? Completely out of character. Gould’s Tracy would fight murderers, not analyze them.

Ye old granary looketh like the ruins of Blarney Castle. The whole comic strip is a ruin and full of Blarney … it fits.

Thick took a correspondence class in Hypnosis. He’s practicing on Mordred, but doesn’t know Mordred isn’t in LaLa Land yet. Poor Mordred doesn’t know that plenty of crooks would pay big to be one-on-one with Thick. If Al Capone had only been arrested by Thick, and in his custody, he’d be Mayor of Chicago by now,

“I can’t answer that question any more than you can answer the question, ‘Why are you such an idiot?’ It’s the way we are.”

Tracy MUST remove the chains, because Mordred has to use the bathroom. The alternative in unthinkable.

Oh come on.

More stupid thinking. For a serial killer about to be sentenced to life in prison or death, escaping into a storm is a relatively small risk to take for freedom.

Quite true, woodworker318. I’m looking forward to not snarking at Dick Tracy.

Weiland, when I first met Detective Tracy, he was a kick-a$$ cop who always got the baddie. For most of my life he was my hero. And then PC crept in, along with a turncoat writer, and turned America’s most feared cop into a wussie, who spends his time running from the bad guys instead of at them. The guy can’t draw, carry on continuity, and totally contradicts himself at every opportunity. He goes out of his way to make our hero look stupid and unfamiliar with established law.

You betcha I’m looking forward to a rebirth of Tracy! And I’ll clap, hoot, and stomp if he behaves the way he was intended. And if the new writers make a PC wimp out of him, my comments will reflect my displeasure! Count on it!
