First, they are afraid to move. Then, slowly they tentatively start moving around. A couple of days in, they are bashing through doorways and smashing the cone against your leg.
Our big guy has figured out how to lay his head on the floor and bend The cone so he can grab an edge and chew on it. Yup, cone of silence! Lol! but not with our big guys!
One of my late pups had to wear a cone for a few days once and he hated it at first. At least until he discovered how big his bark sounded when he wore it. After that, every time he saw it in the hall closet, he got all excited thinking he’d get to wear it. He was the only “little” dog I owned (a Sheltie in a house with a German Shepard and a Newfoundland) and I think he enjoyed sounding as big as his brothers.
too bad Scratch is not there. He would put a ‘kick me’ sign in their rear, and that would drive them crazy, as they would not be able to see it. Or simply tempt them into chasing their tails, maybe telling them that they removed their tails also, but they can not confirm that

Ours hated them. It is always the same.

Think about it, dog doesn’t understand, must get panicky and you can’t explain. Time Scratch got one.

Oh, the cone must be so humiliating for pets. It serves its purpose, but if only our furry friends could retain more of their dignity …
Happy Friday, Crew.
