Now the tables have turned years later back when the grandchild was chauffeured.

Well, as long as he doesn’t get even by making her sit in the cart while he shops….

My wife drives much of the time. She’s 17 years younger than I am and a Portland native. Neither of her “kids” drive and never will, nor will they have children.

My grandson recently chauffeured me from Indiana to Virginia. He was having fun and I sure enjoyed looking around. It was truly a win win.

I used to drive my grandmother every where she needed to go and I loved to do it.

I had the mixed pleasure of driving my grandmother-in-law to and fro. I say mixed pleasure because I really didn’t mind helping, but she was a rather sullen woman. Favorite story: One day before dropping her off back home, she handed me a dollar and asked me to run in to the convenience store and get her a half gallon of milk. I carefully make sure I have the proper % and hand the clerk the buck for the 99 cent milk.

I get back into the car and drive her to the door of her apartment house. I get out, open her door, hand her the bag and hold the building door for her.

She looks at me in a rather irritated way and asks, “Where’s my penny?!”

I sheepishly dug it ot of my pocket, placed it in her hand and laughed about it all the way home.
