Day #2 wasted…. but i suppose for someone who wasnt around about 100 years ago SOME background info is necessary.. but cmon… they coulda tossed this one in on a sunday strip where they have more panels to waste
1- Yep son, money is everything in this world. 2- Why you ask? TRACY: I didn’t. WARBUX: Because it buys all the creature comforts you can imagine. 3- TRACY: I’m imagining some heat up in here. WARBUX: In street parlance, you ARE the “heat”. Hee hee. TRACY: Yeah and I oughta arrest you for assaulting an officer with that joke. WARBUX: Harumpf! I guess you got your mother’s sense of humor.
I think this storyline where Trixie disappeared more than two decades ago but she still had tried to send Annie (who was then – and is now – about 11 years old) away to boarding school is not going to work for any new readers who will be very confused.
Interestingly enough, today’s Luann just picked back up their own villainous (future) stepmother storyline with the villainous Ann Eiffel as the boyfriend of the rich Tom Ferrell, father of 19-year-old longtime cast member Tiffany Ferrell. As with Oliver Warbucks, Tom has been thoroughly fooled by Ann, who (correctly) sees Tiffany as her rival for Tom’s affections. In that case, it’s actually caused the self-centered Tiffany to slowly mature as an individual.
The Tracy of panel 3 makes a nice endstop for Daddy Warbuck’s concise but accurate characterization of the “missing” Trixie Tinkle-Warbucks. Art and text mutually reinforce well today. Still, I am not sure how much this episode will help Tracy in his search for the lost witness in the B-B Eyes Case….

Good morning™, evil schemers!
Not only was she not interested, she took every opportunity to make Annie’s life miserable while pretending to ĺove her.

Trixie was definitely not mother material. However she was great for anti-mothers everywhere.

Then there was that brief fling he had with that other goldigger… what was her name? … Oh yeah, Blondie Boopadoop. He shoved her off on his pal Dag.

A little more insight from Oliver’s point of view.

Not for nothing but Warbucks comes across as an arrogant jerk even if there’s justification in his feelings.

panel 2… are Ollie’s eyes closed or is he looking to his right and the colorist made a mistake?
