When I lived in Fort Worth Texas back in the 80’s we went golfing on May 5th one time. The course was very crowded with families of Mexicans walking the fairways. They thought it was a public park.
The only golf I liked playing was Cowboy Golf – which we used to play on horseback at desert courses in Arizona. No grassy fairways or water hazards, but lots of sand traps, prickly obstacles, really rough roughs and impatient horses.

You want a sport that seems genteel, but in reality is vicious? No, friend, not golf nor even croquet. You want gateball.

Cross-country croquet is a real thing! Okay, maybe only in my friend Bill’s yard, but real none-the-less.
