Much as I love todayâs joke, Iâm also lowkey impressed by the first couple of panels, with Melissa Bangles relaxing against the tree, her thought bubbles forming happy little clouds, while Nancy fails to improve in the background.
I think Melissa Bangles might be Michael Steele in real lifeâŠ[The Bangles are an American pop rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1981. They scored several hit singles during the 1980s, including âWalk Like an Egyptianâ, âManic Monday,â âA Hazy Shade of Winter,â and âEternal Flame.â Their classic line-up consisted of Michael Steele on bass and vocals, founding members Susanna Hoffs on vocals and rhythm guitar, Debbi Peterson on drums and vocals, and Vicki Peterson on lead guitar and vocals.]
Like most novels, we wonât understand till Chapter-10. Trust and obeyâŠ. In a month or two we will be able to re-read War and Peace with greater understanding.
Totally impressed that Nancyâs desire to dominate is so strong that sheâs still tossing that basketball. Even if she canât hit the basket, her force in throwing it where sheâs throwing it should be strong enough to knock that magnet-school trash talker head over heels. Can we be sure thatâs not her goal?
This was rather jarringly funny! :) The transition was SO smooth. :)
I had the same thought as RR BedfordâŠ. when I heard the teacherâs nameâŠ. I immediately thought of the musical group (due to the teacherâs last name).
With Nancyâs vertical thrust not seeming to be on the pathway towards success anytime soonâŠ. perhaps she may need to switch strategies and suggest a switch to dodgeball. :)
Wonder if her husband is named Joe? I knew a man, Joe Bangles, and he balled for you, in worn out shoes. Silver hair, a ragged shirt and baggy pants, the old soft shoe / He jumped so high / He jumped so high

But HOW to introduce the name of the teacher we see all the time? Will it be as SMOOTH as the revelation of COACH Banglesâ name??

A given name and a family name? What an honor.

So this is the witness protection identity of Miss Agnes LaBel? Smoothly adopting an anagram that no one would ever think to crack?

Iâm not familiar enough with the comicâs long history, but have Nancy or Sluggoâs last names ever been revealed?

This is a comment. I love a gag that is clear and obvious, yet creative at the same time. This was my comment. ;)

I canât wait to see what Coach Bangles does in response to this hard look in the mirror that Nancy is unknowingly ignitingâŠ

I like how todayâs strip, very subtly, revealed the name of this character.

This strip is an example to everyone on how to introduce new characters smoothly.
