Shouldn’t summer vacation be starting by now?

Married couples grow to resemble each other. Is that why Heart looks so much like Dean?

With all of the medical problems that i have, a bad hair day and even worse clothes would make me a happy camper if that’s all i had to worry about. I say kudos to the mother.

It seems like somebody hit the puberty alert hard.

I always taught my kids to be independent and to start their own trends. Be yourself and don’t have to follow the crowd. The POPULAR ones have a rude awakening when they graduate…..they’re not in the spotlight and they grow up quickly, facing what the world is REALLY like.

Took me years to realize I wouldn’t have liked being in the In Crowd; most of them were shallow, mean-spirited and all too concerned with what every body else was doing, or not doing. And, Heart may not appreciate her Mom telling her what she could do to make life a lil less odious, because she’s hit the start of parents being the last people you want help from.

She said the same thing when Heart complained about her juvenile Little Mermaid shoes.

I wonder if this is leading to a new hairstyle for Heart?

Do what I did. Start your own. “in” crowd and pretty soon everyone will be wondering about you and emulating you! It really works. I was a kid who moved around A LOT growing up. By mobilizing the outsiders and fringe girls we became a force to be reckoned with and discovered there’s safety in numbers against bullying by the so called “cool” girls. Trying desperately to get into their clique never works but if you start your own group and focus on having fun and being yourself pretty soon the opinions of others don’t matter.

I complained I had no girlfriend, until I met a man with no hands.

In response to “I once cried because I had no shoes, and then I saw a man who had no feet”, a friend of mine used to say “If he had no feet, he needed no shoes. Just because he had his own issues doesn’t make mine any less real.” Might seem like a selfish response, but so many of us marginalize our own issues because we think ourselves not worthy to even express them.

Yes, it’s important to remember that other people have bigger problems than you, and to put things into perspective, but it’s also important to remember that not all problems are an indication of selfishness. It’s OK to recognize when something really is wrong and to stand up for it, even if things “could be worse”.

I dunno. I don’t think it looks bad at all.

Great advice, Addy… No, actually it’s meaningless advice used as an excuse not to care about your child’s problems. Not that I mind; being a good parent really is optional.
