That’s the problem with the world today: people have the capability to imagine that other people don’t exist, especially those that we don’t want to exist like the homeless and the disenfranchised.

How many of you make eye contact with the guy on the street corner holding a sign? It’s easy to rationalize that he’s scamming people and making $75,000 a year (tax-free) and he should get “honest work” like you and me. This might well be! Or it could also be what it looks like.

Kate is wise beyond her years. More pols would be successful if they just shut up and listened.

That’s what I do with the politicians right now.

This reminds me of the classic “how do you keep an idiot in suspense?”

In the company of an incessant talker, I just sit and smile pleasantly. The joy of a hearing aide; you can turn it off. And if asked, “Are you listening to me?”, I just smile happily and say, “Not really.” Of course, I can get away with it, because I’m old.

And that is the best way to deal with an internet troll. Say absolutely nothing in reply.

I do that all of the time. Especially when it’s me talking. I really am so much calmer since I stopped listening to myself.

Slow. Burn.

Kate is so opposite Danae. They’d be in trouble if Danae became as studious as her sister/

I’d have thought that Danae was already good at imagining people don’t exist.

I’m pretty sure Kate’s the smartest person in the family. Though Lucy has her moments.
