This reminds me of the piece of mountain called “Mannen” here in Norway. In 2014, news were that it had shifted considerably, and a huge landslide was certainly only hours away. We got live views on TV, and waited… and waited… and waited…

Eventually, the red alert was called off, people returned to their houses, but they still get evacuated again every time it’s raining a lot, and a webcam is still running.

Presumably it was part of the inspiration behind the 2015 disaster movie “Bølgen” or “The Wave.”

I’m not sure if I’m more surprised that nobody tried to brace it, or tried to push it.

Some boy scouts were hiking and the leaders saw a precariously balanced rock about to fall on the trail, so as a good deed they knocked it over safely. It was the park’s national monument.

Nicely done, Carol. For no reason I can explain, I found this one very poignant.

The boulder had performance anxiety and was just waiting for everyone to leave!

Moral of the story…..“Suspense” is a poor substitute for “importance.”

Then a slight tremor a few hours or days later shakes it loose and it tumbles down and kills 3 people and injure 10 more.

We had a big balanced rock here in Texas, until some lowlife punks knocked it down.
