When I was a kid
Try and hold on to something' when we go over bumps
When i was about ten or eleven my father had a Nash station wagon. My best friend at the time David and i were riding on the lowered tail gate ( this was back in the 60s ). I don’t remember why but dad had to hit the brakes hard. My friend and i ended up plastered against the rear seat.
I was told about this incident many times by my parents because i was too young to remember it. We were driving down the highway to go to the local beach and somehow I opened the car door and swung out with it, hanging on to the door handle while they tried to get the car stopped before i could fall. With 2 older brothers I’ve never understood how i had access to the car door. This was in the very early 1970’s before seatbelts were installed in all vehicles.
We had a car where the passenger door would fly open going around curves. My mom would just reach over and grab my arm as she started making the turn . . .
Most crowded/dangerous car ride i ever was in had 15 teenagers in a mustang doing 100km/h on gravel roads. This was well after seatbelts were mandatory.

As kids, it was usually fun to ride in the back of the truck!
