The body wants to avoid pain.

Body just gets hit – it’s the brain that feels the pain.

Calvin is so good at lying, he even fools himself.

You’ve got to do this, Calvin. You will enjoy the the truck so much more if you repo it! Instead of Moe getting bored and tossing it back.

You do this and succeed, Hobbes will never mess with you again and Susie will adore you forever.

No surprise there. It’s hard to just throw yourself into danger!

More like your brain not believing what your mouth is saying. The body is just hangin’ out waiting to see which prevails.

My mind and body don’t get along. My body quite often doesn’t do what I tell it to do or does what I tell it not to do.

Calvin just added a third possibility to the fight-or-flight Response… Who guessed freeze could be another?

It is never a good idea to believe anything that brain is saying.

I sympathize with you Calvin – I have the same problem when it comes to diet and exercise.

I’ve been in his shoes many times in my life!

You need a diversion Calvin. Throw a rock past Moe, get Suzie to talk to him, something so you can have a chance to beat feet once you make your move.

When I was about 6 or 7 I punched the neighborhood bully in the nose. I thought all was good until his dad got home. The SOB drove around with “Billy” looking for me. They found me at the playground with some other kids. His dad told him to go kick my ass. I really didn’t want to fight so I ran and “Billy” chased me. He was gaining on me, so I did the drop to my knees and he flew over the top of me and landed on his back. I jumped on him quick, punched him in the nose again then hit him in the gut. Out of the corner of my eye I saw his dad running towards us. I jumped up and ran like hell. “Billy’s” dad grabbed him and kicked his ass all the way to the car. I went back to playing. After that “Billy” and I became friends! His dad scared me forever. Calvin should do it to Moe! LOL!

Who knew the body-brain barrier worked that way?
