Used to be drivers had to be alert for other drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians crossing in the middle of the street, bicyclists, children playing in or near the street, and animals crossing the road/street. (Did I miss anything?). I was taught Defensive Driving skills, as part of the HS curiculum and without that, wouldn’t have an accident-free record for over 5 decades.
