They are going to make the pre-season games free. By eliminating them & having 18 regular season games! The greed of the billionaires has no boundaries!
This is why I haven’t paid to see a major league game in any sport in nearly thirty years. The minor leagues and colleges give you great action at a fraction of the price. Heck, I live in a town where the college made it to the national championship game in a major sport, and for SEASON TICKETS in the best seat in the arena they charge slightly less than twice what the nearest pro team charges for a SINGLE GAME in the worst seat in the house. (And the arena here is less than 10 minutes walk!)
My living room is a better seat. Better view than from the nosebleeds, and with dvr I can skip the talking heads, and also do my own instant replay. Beer and snacks are better-priced as well.
The NFL is one of the biggest frauds perpetrated on the people, probably next to the occupant of the white building in D.C. Overhyped, overexposed . Thank goodness for REDZONE. I just wish there was a political version
The real money lies not in stadium fans seeing the games, but in TV broadcast rights and merchandizing. I would think that the cost of parking, food and seats for the ongoing fans is to support the cost of the stadium for the most part.
If you like good, exciting football, try going to some of the local Highschool games. There are several Highly ranked High school teams in the Houston area that are a source of supply for elite college teams, every year. Great foot ball at a low price.
Jerry Jones is the wrong example here. He would gladly spend a lot more to build a champion; and in fact when he overspent a non-existent salary cap the last year there was no contract in place, he and fellow spendthrift Daniel Snyder were fined heavily for violating an illegal owner-wide conspiracy to avoid violating the non-existent cap (a judge later ruled that the NFLPA was the only party with standing, & they had signed away their right to sue with the next contract). THE SALARY CAP EXISTS TO PREVENT OWNERS LIKE JERRY JONES FROM ASSEMBLING TOP TALENT, EVEN THROUGH THE DRAFT. He is not afraid to pay RB Elliott, but does not want to have to sacrifice Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, Byron Jones etc to do so.
