And the picture of Thick in panel #1 is, again, surprisingly good–but what donaldo said yesterday is right. This isn’t the sort of expression you expect on Dick Tracy’s face.
Pity he broke his thumb and finger as shown in panel #3.
Five days ago Spacy jumped out of the same window. It was more spectacular then when he jumped with a bright red aura around him. Second time’s not the charm.
Tracy offers to help Mordred, then just leaves.
Tracy is asking someone, possibly miles away what happened to Mordred, when he just left him seconds ago.
Three days left till the boffo finish, right?
And yeah Bill, we’re almost caught up to last week. Except didn’t Tracy’s wrist radio turn back on a month ago or so?
I just realized we have all been artfully deceived
This is the most brilliant act of vengeance ever conceived
The victims families hatched a plan so sublime
All they had to do was wait and bide their time
With the help of a mole within the FBI
Assured them that they would have revenge on their guy
They realized that if ever you want someone erased
You just have to get Tracy assigned to the case
His incompetence and ineptness will get the job done
Where there was once a killer soon there would be none
A monster storm, the biggest of the century they say
Would be just the cover they needed for their play
Dick Tracy would transport the evil serial killer
Setting the stage for a four month long thriller
Four flattened tires, the flooded new street corner lake
Just leave the rest to that flat-footed flake
No need to follow or get in the way
Any prisoner of Tracy’s he’ll inadvertently slay
The power approach, as a joke they taught him in school
Thinking, “never before have we seen such a big fool”
So now their plan has finally come to fruition
All Mordred needs now is the services of a mortician
Lizz, back at Police Hooters has but one deep regret
Try as she might, she has not gotten rid of Tracy yet.
You have to wonder how deep the water is where Thick landed. If it was too shallow he could have broken some bones when he hit bottom. That’s a problem here because we were shown that the waters have receded from around the granary. Before the flooding we were shown that it stood atop a rounded hill. Even with a running start Thick couldn’t have landed more than forty feet from the granary, and ten feet seems a more reasonable number for the horizontal component. It’s far more likely that Thick hit either solid ground or very shallow water, and broke a leg or two on impact.
BillThompson said, “You have to wonder how deep the water is where Thick landed. If it was too shallow he could have broken some bones when he hit bottom.”
If you look back to Sunday’s strip, the water was up to Tracy’s chin. I figured that Tracy landed in the lake that his car ended up in when he did the power approach. Sam was safely stationed atop an adjacent rounded hill.
Who is Tracy talking to and asking if Mordred got out of the building? As far as he knows there wasn”t anyone around for miles. It looks like he is standing in the water and why all of a sudden does he have his eyes wide open? He looks really scared. WW, it looks like you can’t quit yet. We still have three days to go. Another good one.
If Locher can dig himself outta this one in 3 days, he’s got a lotta “splainin’ to do” in a really short time. If he fails, he goes down in the record books (my record books) as being short-sighted. REALLY short-sighted. A writer who continues to challenge my intelligence lays low on my totem pole. I venture to give Mattie more stars on his chart than I’d give Locher.
Tracy landed in a “rain filled storm depression” or something like that. Hard to believe it would be so deep that he would land standing up, uninjured, and keeping his genie dry.
Panel 3, Tracy is talking to himself or thinking out loud; the genie is on, Sam hears him and answers.
The granary collapsed because it is old, deteriorated after years of unuse; could very well have termites and the rats wouldn’t help. The rain and wind fianlly did it in.
What is unexplainable is Tracy saying he would help but jumping out first.
ALSO………. anyone notice Thick put his tie back on? Count the times it was all ragged when he swam out of the submerged car and in the granery, it got re-tied. Then it loosened again, and so on ad infinitum. I guess he wanted to look presentable for Testicle Chin (or the AWACS), whichever came first.

Also, why is Dick submerged in rocky road ice cream? How is his wrist genie working after submersion?
And what does “HB Terry” mean?

Who is HB Terry? Is he left over from Terry and the Pirates? Did Locher really need someone to copy Sunday’s panel and change the red to white?

HB Terry must be the name of the artist who drew all those little tiny bubbles.

barticle35, a different artist provided the tiny bubbles:

I’m guessing that “HB” stands for Happy Birthday. “Terry” I have no clue, as Locher’s wife’s name is Mary, not Terry.

Wait. Now the building falls apart? What caused it? A random gust of wind? Or the mob of rats?

Remember that Locher is a fundie Christian Republican.
Probably Terry is either his mistress or gay lover.
