That’s what happens when you have an overactive mind: you can’t tell when the dreams end and the reality begins.

It’d be funny if Mom stepped through Calvin’s doorway, only to fall like Calvin did, and it turns out to be HER dream.

I realized I stayed up until midnight so I could see the Sunday comics early.

Am I the only one noticing Calvin’s jacket is teal in the title panel and the next panel, but the following panel has the jacket as pink followed by back to teal?

Maybe this entire strip is a dream for Calvin.

Calvin will imagine literally anything to try to avoid school or school work.

The longest fall begins with a single step…

First, he’s falling upwards and now the house. What’s next?

Having a nice “Fall”, Calvin?

“Groundhog’s Day”…the dream version?

Will there nobody come and save and help Calvin?

Calvin dreams in colour, however in panel 3 his jacket is pink & in the next panel it’s a different colour.

As long as your homework remains undone, the dreams will be there.

I hope its not a case of eternal waking because he somehow annoyed the Sandman.

The dreaded double nightmare! No, he’s not getting up for a week after that one!

That’s scary to be falling in your own dreams and can’t tell reality…

Not sure where he would be where a cliff is that high up, but I imagine an airline pilot (or any pilot for that matter) could tell us just about how high up he is in these scenes… the highest I’ve been was in an American Airlines 737: 41,000 feet, where even clouds seemed a long way down… :-)

Watch that first step. It’s a doozy.

To those who point out inconsistencies. They happen to me all the time in my dreams. I leave a room, turn around immediately and go back into it and it is a completely different room.

I get lost a lot in my dreams, to the point where it is so habitual, I don’t worry about it anymore.

I really enjoy those kinds of dreams. They’re way too rare.

Calvin, OTOH, will probably be terrified of getting out of bed.

Calvin, what is it with you and gravity?

I am not afraid of heights. When I dreamed I was falling from a cliff, I would stick out my arms like superman and I would fly. Take down the arms and I would fall. I really enjoyed the flying, so it was not a scary dream. However, I knew that in reality it wasn’t going to work.

I’ve had mornings like that.

Being a bit picky here, but who has front door that open outwards? Strange.

Looks like gravity came back for Calvin (in both the dream and real worlds).

Sometimes the best plan simply is to stay in bed.

Comic strip cartoonists have better things to do than fill in colors. I’m guessing the person responsible for continuity of color use was having a bad day. FYI: Watterson probably doesn’t hand letter calvin’s verbage.

Reminds me of that Yosemite Sam cartoon where he tries not to get angry, falls through the same hole in the floor twice, cursing up a storm each time…

I’ve had that exact dream…

If I actually woke up every time I dreamt I was waking up then….oh, never mind.

Oh, great. Now I can’t tell if I’m in a dream dreaming that I’m in a dream writing about being in a dream where I read Calvin and Hobbes.

What if Calvin is STILL dreaming in the last panel…and is going to fall AGAIN when he goes outside?

I had a dream about a typical boring day at school. When I woke up, everything happened exactly as in the dream, from what was for breakfast to what the teachers said in class, to what friends I met and what they said. It was kind of spooky the second time ’round.

Maybe the dream came after the real day, you say? What does that say about school that it felt like a dream, and the dream felt more like reality?

Seems as though Nightmare Freddy is chasing them younger now…

Are you getting up? Er… no?

If I relax my body too much when in bed before falling asleep, I may have one of those dreams.
