not sure if they are talking about Apple fanboys or millenials. Apple convinced quite a few that âyou donât need it because it either looks bulky or it rises production pricesâ is cool, so be insensate is fine as long as you think you are cool. A cd drive was too bulky for a computer that stands over a table most of the time, ports to connect external drives was also too uncool, make phones with no way to expand memory is cool yet to add more memory it doubles the price. That means that if you are on a trip and your memory runs full you can not take more photos, unless you dump the ones you already have in the cloud. Ah, you are overseas and you donât have a data plan there so you cannot upload? though luck, is not as if there where other phones where you could just swap a memory card for a new one. Also, for whoever has a computer to work and not just to show off, people still use hard media backups; if that was not the case, every âworkâ model would not come with a cd/dvd drive, and the workflow and the security of the company would not depend on if they have paid for the cloud services and have a connection available
âOK, we have this great new thing we call âthe cloudâ; how it works is, you store all your data on our server, then, if you want to access your stuff you have to pay us â every month. Forever."
And people swallowed this idiocy! Orwell was wrong; Big Brother ainât the government.
The 3.5 inch floppy disks are already so out of date that even cartoonists fail to picture them correctly: They had only ONE slanted corner (to ensure correct slotting-in) not all 4 of them.
