After Cat In The Hat (2003), the wife of the late Dr. Seuss told DreamWorks™ not to make anymore live-action movies based on all his children stories. Animated ones she would still allow.
I grew up reading Dr. Seuss, and still love his work. And I love the cartoon version of the Grinch (watched it this morning), as created by Chuck Jones and narrated by Boris Karloff (with the song sung by an accidentally uncredited Thurl Ravenscroft, aka Tony the Tiger of the old cereal commercials).
That said, I loved Jim Carrey as the Grinch. The movie was funny and charming, added a modern sensibility and fleshed out the story while keeping the spirit of the original. So there!
I’ll be honest, I was afraid of the Grinch ( as in the cartoon, original version) when I was a kid. Then I saw Jim Carrey grinch. After that, I still liked sleep, but I couldn’t seen to get any

Yeah, that Grinch movie was pretty terrible. Jim Carrey also doesn’t really fit well as the Grinch.

Is that the live action, or the one made my the Despicable Me studio?

If this is what Spitsy thinks of that film, I’d hate to see his reaction to The Cat in the Hat 2003 film.

I feel like Spitsy. Carrey, Carrel, Sandler, Borat… what happened to good comedy?

I agree w/ Stew. Jim Carrey stopped being funny about 20 years ago. Now he’s just bitter, like Robert De Niro.

I agree with Spitzy. The only Grinch to watch is the original animated version. Jim Carrey sucks big time.

I remember Lincoln Peirce blogged about his displeasure with book-to-screen Dr. Seuss adaptations.

This has been a sad sad week. ComicsCreatorz, Mistytrainz, MintCrepe, and Piglover have left BNCW. Some of them have left GC with that. R.I.P
