Never assume you know what the other person is thinking or what they are going to say or for that matter, why they are saying and doing what they are saying and doing.
I once had an argument with my wife, the basis of which was that she assumed my motivation for doing something. So I yelled at her, “You can’t read my mind. You don’t know what I am thinking! Tell me what I am thinking right now.”
She flipped me the bird.
I looked at her and in mock shock said, “Oh my God. You can read my mind!”
The argument was over as we both broke up laughing.
Now that’s become a catch phrase for us and heads off many arguments.
I didn’t Snoopy was monolingual. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen him open his mouth to say something (even in sparrowese). Telepathy seems to be his preferred mode of communication….
