Now that just doesn’t make sense. How could anyone possibly verify that all 28,000 rubber ducks washed ashore? Did everyone who found one report it to the International Rubber Duck Society??

Over the years the ducks (also beavers, turtles, and frogs) have become famous for providing data on ocean currents and wind.

“Walked out this morning. I don’t believe what I saw. 28,000 rubber duckies washed up on the shore. Seems I’m not alone at being alone. 28,000 rubber duckies looking for a home.”

I’m guessing the $4 cost was the production cost? Or he sold the gift to his mother?

What is even more interesting is that thousands of these little critters “swam” up the Bering Sea, got stuck (frozen) in the ice packs, and were carried across Canada and released north of Labrador and into the Atlantic! Some swam to Iceland, Ireland and Maine!

That $4 would be about $80 today. Inflation sucks. It’s just another way to cheat the poor.

Think what the record would sell for.

Elvis recorded “My Happiness” on July 18, 1953 at Sun Studio. It cost him $3.98.

    Here’s a YouTube of that recording: https://youtu.be/tC-LG7wfvmU

“Shipping crate”? It was a 40 foot steel shipping container.

Not to interrupt this tantalizing discussion about rubber duckies (and I am truly disappointed that no one has yet mentioned Ernies Rubber Duckie song from Sesame St.), but when Elvis recorded his first song for his mother, he was still blond. He didn’t start dyeing his hair jet black until 1956 or 57.

I’d like to know why they didn’t pick them all up somehow before they drifted away.
