Abby's mom: I have four kids in six sports, all with Saturday events. (sigh) And I never even played spors. Woman: Maybe so - but you're All-State as a sports mom. Abby's mom: I want a banquet and a trophy.
Back in the day when there was just Little League my mom was team mom, den mother, room mother and PTA Vice President and she never got either of those things either
Most of the moms and dads I am seeing at my grand daughters’ soccer matches talk about real estate and vacations and managing money and where they are lunching and…what? Wait? Someone scored a goal?
My oldest daughter who played college soccer and her husband who wrestled in college have 4 kids in Wrestling, Football, Basketball, Tee Ball, Volleyball, Track & Field, not to mention, Scouting, Dance, and Rodeo. Also Wednesday bible study. She coaches soccer, he coaches wrestling. Talk about burning the candle at both ends and sometimes in the middle as well.
My dad drove the band bus and he and my mom both worked the concession stand through five girls’ worth of band. Over 25 years. We sisters arranged for a special presentation for them at a band banquet. My parents ROCKED!
I played football, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, wrestled, ran track, played organ in the marching band, participated in gymnastics, drama club, was in VICA, DECA, played tiddly-winks, was on the yearbook team, and was hall monitor. My parents had to drive me to all those events uphill, both ways, through blizzards during heatwaves.

That’s probably why I was an only child.
