Tulza seems implicated in the purse snatching by the crow. He suddenly took off which seems like an admission of guilt. We’ll have to wait till tomorrow to find out what happened next.
I just adore this. I know some people don’t love the crossovers, but I love that the Dick Tracy world is growing to include other adventure strip characters who don’t live anywhere else anymore.
The Big Top gets around. By the time the trained crows were taking wing in Tracyville, Haf-n-Haf was disfigured and married to Dolly. Gould liked putting animals in the strip, and the MCU had a menagerie consisting of Bribery’s smoking cat, Li’l Dropout, the artistic chimpanzee (?), and Clybourne. Clybourne had flown out the window the previous spring, but returned with new skills. Haf-n-Haf made his debut on December 8, 1966. Honeymoon makes a rare appearance on December 23. We meet Zelda on December 25. What fun!
Counting crows. Tulza slips Clybourne some badly spoiled beef jerky (it’s already turned green!) and the bird drops out of the strip for a moment. Nomad drops a dime, and PDQ Tulza goes on the lam with cops in pursuit, and…?

1-CLUELESS BOY: HEY! Sam wasn’t dreaming about the crow and the purse. It’s being delivered now.
2-MOOSESTACIO: Who needs the FedEx when you have the trained crows. Hmmm. The Trained Crows. Good name for a rock band, no?
3-MOOSESTACIO: PETA is closing in. Why do they not go after Lassie’s trainer? Or Gentle Ben’s? Life ees so unfair!

Why create new characters & stories when you can recycle old ones?
