1-GRANDPA: No boys. You can tell me. I made the screws promise not to listen to or record this call before they connected us. They crossed their hearts and hoped to die. Weâre good. OkâŚniceâŚgood thinkingâŚTHANKS.
2-GRANDPA: I just talked to Hickory and Dickory at Pen Pals State PrisonâŚ
SHADY: Oh? How are they?
GRANDPA: Donât know, donât care. Shaddup and listen. They told me where they hid the theater props.
SHADY: The ones they stole from Our Town which forced it to close early?
3-GRANDPA: Yeah. Thatâs why it closed early. Anyway, I got plans for those props. I might tell you about them tomorrow. Maybe not. Weâll see tomorrow.
SHADY: Allâs I remember from the props is a chair and a ladder.
How can Splitface possibly be talking to two guys who are undeniably dead? Both Wormy and Measles were killed off by the current team. Seems like this story has already jumped the tracks and headed for yet another Sweatbox Express.
Here is story about Measlesâ and Wormyâs planned robbery, from the Dick Tracy wiki:
Measles had been recently paroled in 1981 and became a a suspect in the case of the threatening letters that Dick Tracy had been receiving. Measles had befriended another Tracy foe in prison, âWormyâ Marrons. Measles was staying with his cousin Wally Enog, and met up with Wormy even though it violated the conditions of their parole. The pair planned an armored car heist, enlisting the help of Wormyâs seamstress friend Dewdrop, another paroled criminal who had crossed paths with Dick Tracy in the past.
The plan was for Dewdrop to provide Measles and Wormy with counterfeit guard uniforms, which the two men would wear and then subdue the real guards. They would then slip the third armored car guard some drugged coffee, and drive the car to Dewdropâs derelict garage hideout.
Dewdrop expressed a romantic interest in Measles, even though she knew Wormy would be jealous if he found out. Following a late night planning session, Measles asked Wormy to drop him off at his cousinâs home, unaware that the house was being monitored by Johnny Adonis and Lee Ebony. As Measles emerged from the car, the two officers approached and identified themselves. Measles surrendered, but Wormy backed the car into Lee, knocking her off her feet. Lee drew her gun and fired through the rear window, striking Wormy in the shoulder and wounding him. Wormy and Measles were taken into custody, and Measles inadvertently confessed that they had been planning a robbery (December 25th, 1981). He was charged with violation of his parole and conspiracy, but it was soon discovered that he was not responsible for the threatening letters that Tracy had received.
Regarding Splitfaceâs head⌠The âexposed brainâ could be a scar caused by the layers of skin below the visible scalp not being sewed up after his last escape and just left to heal on its ownâŚ
Also, the germs and bacteria, etc. from the sewer didnât help things eitherâŚ
Clybourneâs meager meal of four crackers may not leave him enough strength to carry out any âheavy liftingâ in Splittyâs scheme. Splitty, of course, is so mad (i.e., insane; crazy; looney) that he doesnât bother with such trivia as hungerâŚ.
All the props those two late ghastly ghosties (panel 2), Wormy and Measles, had assembled, and which (someone) reports are still âthere,â were intended for carrying out a robbery, but I doubt thatâs what Splitty has in mind (careful it doesnât leak out, there!) ultimately. Maybe a faux robbery to lure the Fab Four into a trapâŚ.
Iâve been considering Gouldâs gallery of grotesques, and Iâve come to the conclusion that regular applications of Plexiderm might have turned many of them into law-abiding members of society.

Good morningâ˘, propmasters!
I think he met Measles and Wormy in jail before they planned that robbery, or was it after?
Clybourne looks a little bored.

I keep thinking he should have that exposed brain looked at. Could lead to issues.
